The objective of this publication is to "provide a concise manual of terminology that can be
used to clarify the communication of information concerning pollen grains and spores". Definitions
appear to the left of the page. Adjacent to the definitions, the right-hand third of the page is used for
simple illustrative line-drawings. Terms are accompanied by a reference, indicating when and where
the term was first used, and some have short comments, indicating, for example, the history of the
term or revisions. Synonyms and antonyms, where the exist, are also indicated. Some terms appear in
bold type; these are "in current usage and [are] recommended for continued use". This publication
would be a worthwhile addition to any palynologist's bookshelf; neophyte palynologists will find it
invaluable for picking their way through the plethora of terminology that afflicts the palynological
literature. The glossary is distributed free-of-charge and may be obtained by writing to LPP
